Cheap Trick

Cheap Trick

May has to be the best time of year in Northern California. The weather is normally great and most towns around are area are having there annual festivities (Winters Youth day, Picnic Day, Dixon May Fair and Fiesta Days). This year was no different for the May Fair and Parade on Saturday. The Fair kicked off on Thursday with the evening entertainment being Cheap Trick. I not sure if it’s the economy or what, but the stands were only half full. That was very disappointing, since I look at the band as Rock Legends. But they put on a great show never the less.
Friday was Kids day and I’m sure a lot of people ended up with a little sun burn. It was another great and warm day. We took are daughter and her friends for the day. What was going to be a couple of hours turned out to be 7 hours (my dogs were sore). Jessica Simpson was that night’s entertainment.
Saturday day started off with the May Fair parade in downtown Dixon. Pride gymnastics walked in the parade with a dance routine. Note to parade goers next year sit on the east side of the street to stay out of the sun! And what happened to the fancy floats that use to by in the parades, I guess people don’t have the time or money for them anymore. We decided not to go to the fair Saturday or Sunday to save a little money. It gets a little pricey paying $4 for a soda and $5 for a corn dog. Plus we decided to drive up North on Sunday to visit mom on Mothers Day.

Welcome Home

MOMOk! I know it been a while since I’ve last updated. There’s a good reason for this. I figured my mom is the only one looking at my blog. And since November she’s been in and out of the hospital for a total of 4 months. I mean a total time in the place equaling over 4 months. The first stay was for a stomach operation in early Nov. that lasted only 2 weeks. Then after a hole developed in her colon a couple weeks later they kept her in for 31 days to monitor her progress. With things improving or so it seemed she was released just a few days before Christmas. In the first few days of February she was rushed back to the hospital with cramps. To make a long story short, the colon was not getting the necessary blood supply and was dying, a result of the original operation. After two emergence operations with in 4 days at a total weight of 79 lbs she laid in ICU for 3 weeks. While in ICU she laid unconscious on a breathing machine, which ended up giving her fluid on the lungs. After dealing with bed sores and fighting to building her strength back up she is final coming back home tomorrow April 26, 2009. And I’ll tell you if I never make it back to San Francisco that would be fine with me.

Indian Summer in Nor Cal

I’m sitting here on November 17th loving this weather. I know this area needs rain! Lake Berryessa is 26′ below the spill (Glory Hole) and with an average wet winter probable will not spill anyways. If we have a below average year like the last couple of years Berryessa will really start looking very low come August and September next year. So someone start doing your rain dance!

But the real reason I’d like to see it rain is because I’m lazy by nature. When it 75* and sunny it’s hard to get away with sitting inside all day on Sunday and watch Football.

Has it been a Month already

I guess I’m not much of a blogger only posting once a month.

Hopefully that will change!

Had to take my Mom to San Francisco yesterday for a Doctors app.

It turned out to be a beautiful day in the

city. I wash we had a little more time to goof off. Traffic did suck until

we got on the Bay Bridge, then coming

home was a breeze.

She (my mom) will be heading back Oct, 31 for another stomach operation.

This will be her 4 operation in 25 years.

Fantasy Football Draft

Saturday night was our leagues Fantasy draft. A few adult beverages were consumed but we made it through 12 rounds of drafting. The draft ended around 10:30 but the night didn’t end until well after midnight. Our 10 team league has been going on since 1991. The first 10 years all the scoring was done by hand. Meaning every Monday and Tuesday morning I’d get are local newspaper, look through the sport pages an add each individual NFL players performance  to his owner team score. Talk about time consuming!

Since 2001 we’ve use CBS sportsline commissioner to do all the calculations. Great site to manage a Fantasy Football league.
